| In the spring of 07 Washoe County
Parks gave us as a project, a 1937 International Farmall F-12. The
tractor was donated to the Bartley Ranch some 10 plus years ago.
Having been exposed to the elements for to many years it was in
real rough shape. Tires were flat, engine wouldn't turn over, radiator
leaked, gas tank leaked and the magneto was in pieces. Were we up
to the challenge? Time would tell. We started with as much help
as we could get together removing as many parts as we could. The
crankcase had been full of water, pistons were rusted solid to the
sleeves. We were wondering if this tractor would ever run again?
But we had accepted the challenge and the work had begun. After
many hours of wire brushing and sandblasting the tractor looked
like it would run again. Found a radiator core that was good, rebuilt
the oil pump, carburetor and fuel pump. Took the head and crank
to the machine shop and after getting it back, and after putting
the engine back together, everything is ready for a paint job. After
a paint job, reassembly and starting was all that remained. Getting
the old girl to fire was the next challenge. After several hours
of dragging it around we had it running but not well, carburetor
needed a little more work, magneto had a short. After a few more
hours of tinkering, the tractor was now running great. The following
weekend we delivered the F-12 where it now is proudly on display
to all who wants to see her. |
